The banner project campaign was inspired by the rainbow PACE (PEACE) banners that have been waving from millions of Italian windows and balconies, and held aloft by citizens at demonstrations since the outbreak of war in Iraq. It has been translated into many languages; as it spread throughout the world, it became an international peace symbol.
August 29: Thousands flew our flags past Madison Square Garden in the peaceful, legal and joyous United for Peace & Justice march August 30: As efforts to crush free speech on the ground continue, we invited all New Yorkers to fly their banners from windows, balconies, flag poles and fire escapes in the face of the Republican Party!
